Bauxal II

On 18 April, our company hosted the 5th monitoring visit of the Bauxal II project.

In 2023, the validation phase of the new BAUXAL products begins with a battery of industrial tests on real equipment linings.

Paval's refining prototype has reached the Refinal production committed for the first sintering campaign that will take place during the month of August.

On 27 April last, the 4th monitoring visit of LIFE BAUXAL II took place at the BEFESA-Valladolid facilities. After reviewing the scope and degree of execution of the project and the next actions, we saw the refinery prototype in operation.

REFINAL agglomeration process establishes along with the sintering process the basis to obtain critical properties of the future BAUXAL grains such as density and porosity.

Within the framework of the X International Foundry Technical Forum held on 27 and 28/10, Idoia Ibarretxe, Industrial Director of RSI, and Hector Trigueros from BEFESA gave a conference entitled "From waste to raw material: innovation and valorization in Aluminum and Refractory".

Guiding this 4R paradigm (Reduce-Reuse-Reinvent-Recycle) by adding one more R, 5R being this fifth Reeducate in the steel and refractory sector we enrolled in 2 projects with the help of European funds within the LIFE programme with leading companies in several related sectors.

At the end of January, a day was dedicated to review and monitor the LIFE BAUXAL II project at the BEFESA ALUMINIO facilities, more specifically at its Valladolid plant. With the participation of technicians from INSERTEC and BEFESA, the most significant advances of the project to date were analyzed and the guidelines and next steps to be taken.

The preindustrial prototype for Paval refining with a Refinal´s capacity of 500tpy has been started during the month of October, as it was expected in the project´s schedule.
