When we take a 25kg bag of CUARSIL we read, apart from the name, the granulometry and the percentages of binder it contains. The whole bag contains quartzite. But NOT all the content of the bag is SCR.

After almost 2 years of operation and 130,000 MT, the cladding has undergone minimal alterations. This result confirms that precast shapes furnace threshold elements are an excellent alternative to lining with concrete.

One of the ways to cast iron in a foundry is by using automatic casting units. In recent years we have worked on improving materials for this application, having developed the INSECOR 70 S PLUS and the INSECOR 77S PLUS. These doughs have been installed in CAP ovens from 4T to 25T with excellent results.

The events of recent months have had a major impact on the production forecasts and planning of foundries. The uncertainty of the market, of supply and of delivery times means that maintenance stops, times and budgets have to be made as flexible as possible: extended, reduced, brought forward, delayed, etc.

INSERTEC, have developed a complete range of CUARSIL IS7, with some improved performance thermomechanical that means, better resistance of the lining to the formation of cracks.

The elimination of water from the refractory material must be progressive and carried out at a controlled speed determined by the characteristics of the product, the quantity, the thickness and the thermal profile of the lining to be dried.

The main advice is periodic maintenance. They are the best prevention. With this in mind, there are three main points that will help us.

The adhered corundum layer is initially soft and can be easily removed, but in later stages the product is dense, hard and difficult to remove during cleaning and can cause mechanical damage to the lining during removal.
