On July 28, we were visited by Daniel Ruiz, Director of Robotekin. The Basque Robotics and Automation Association, of which we are a member along with 60 other companies and organizations in the Basque Country, provides us with tremendous support in terms of synergies, competitiveness, and the promotion of new technological and business projects.
Robotization in aluminum foundry and recycling: a revolution in safety, efficiency, and profitability
The foundry and aluminum recycling plants are undergoing an unprecedented transformation thanks to industrial robotization.
This technological evolution not only improves production processes but also increases workplace safety, optimizes operational efficiency, and ensures sustained long-term profitability.
→ Automation in foundries: greater precision and fewer risks
Traditional foundry processes involve high temperatures, heavy materials, and potentially hazardous environments. The introduction of industrial robots in tasks such as pouring molten metal, feeding furnaces, molding, or extracting parts has made it possible to:
- Significantly reduce workplace accidents
- Improve the quality of the final product thanks to the repetitive precision of robots
- Minimize downtime and human error
Robotization does not replace the operator’s knowledge, but rather complements it, allowing them to focus on safer and more strategic supervision and control tasks.
→ Robotization in aluminum recycling plants
Aluminum recycling is an essential process for the sustainability of the metallurgical sector. Thanks to automation, it is now possible to:
- Sort materials with machine vision and smart sensors
- Handle parts and waste quickly and safely
- Integrate robotic systems with conveyor belts and recovery furnaces
These advances not only streamline the process, but also reduce energy consumption and improve the traceability of recycled material.
→ Long-term profitability and return on investment
Although the initial investment in robotization can be significant, its medium- and long-term benefits are undeniable:
- Savings in operating costs
- Reduced downtime
- Increased productivity
- Reduced waste and improved use of raw materials
The implementation of industrial robots in foundries and aluminum recycling plants is not a future trend: it is a present necessity for those who want to remain competitive in an increasingly demanding market.
Robotekin: driving robotization in the sector
The robotization of industrial processes in the aluminum smelting and recycling sector represents a strategic opportunity to improve plant safety, efficiency, and profitability.
Associations such as Robotekin make it possible for these potential benefits to be translated into real optimizations of facilities. They are not only dedicated to giving visibility to their partners’ projects and developments, but also to enabling those same projects and developments to see the light of day.
Many thanks to Daniel Ruiz for his visit to all the members of the Basque Robotics and Automation Association for their support.
