We closed the first stage of the project by fulfilling the double objective we had set ourselves: to bring the aluminium recycling process closer to the University and to provoke the students’ interest in the future projects in which we are involved.
What is Al Infinitum?
Al Infinitum is a campaign aimed at promoting the recycling of aluminium cans among the university public that started at the beginning of the year at Mondragon Unibertsitatea with the installation of 3 reverse vending machines. We are carrying out this initiative with other players in the aluminium recycling industry: Ball, Egile, Brew & Roll (end product).
One campaign, two objectives
To encourage recycling by explaining the industrial process that is set in motion each time a can is placed in the correct container. In this sense, we support the challenge to reach 70% of cans recycled nationally (current: 64%) and 55% of cans recycled nationally by 2030 (current: 51%).
Reactivate young people’s interest in technical careers by linking the industrial world with concepts that are very important to them: circular economy, environment, civic responsibility… Like them, we know that industry is one of the main culprits of the current situation, but we want to show them that it will also be one of the driving forces of the solution and that they can be part of it.
We closed our actions at Mondragon Unibertsitatea by achieving both objectives: in addition to having collected the target number of cans (2,000), we opened up avenues of collaboration with the university to carry out various projects.
