At the beginning of May, taking advantage of a planned shutdown of the facility, the inspection and sampling of the lining made in December 2022 with BAUXAL materials was carried out.
The aim is to be able to compare the performance of the conventional materials based on virgin raw materials and the BAUXAL-based materials installed in the different areas of the melting reverberatory furnace.
The visual and dimensional inspection yields excellent results after more than one year in operation. The results of the laboratory analyses in which more detailed aspects of the samples will be reviewed in detail are in process.
It has also been possible to verify the situation of several prefabricated pieces of transfer channels installed in some of the most conflictive points of the foundry. The situation of the channels after several months in operation is promising.
