Runners are essential elements between melting furnaces, holding furnaces and ingot casting machines. They must have the following characteristics:
- High thermal shock resistance
- High mechanical strength
- Non-wettability properties for aluminium metal
Silicast AL, ideal for aluminium runners
To meet these needs, we have developed Silicast AL, a low-cement refractory concrete with excellent thermal shock resistance and very low impregnation by molten aluminium.
- Service temperature: 1,050 ºC
- Grain size distribution: 0 – 6 mm
- Binder type: modified hydraulic
- Density: 2,000 m3
