Summer shutdowns are one of the key periods for the maintenance and servicing of industrial thermal equipment. This year, Insertec France has completed one of its most successful summer work campaigns, carrying out partial and complete refractory lining repairs simultaneously for different customers.
The campaign has been marked by the diversity of equipment — induction furnaces, rotary furnaces, heat treatment equipment, etc. — processes and refractory solutions, as well as the need to carry out the work within very tight maintenance windows to minimize the impact on production.

Different refractory materials and solutions
One of the key features of this campaign has been the use of a wide variety of grades and types of refractory materials, selected according to the requirements of each application: phosphate-bonded materials, hydraulically bonded materials, self-flowing castables, precast shapes, etc.
Being a manufacturer gives us a clear advantage when it comes to selecting the most suitable material for each project. We have an in-depth understanding of the performance of each product and its suitability for factors such as operating temperature, the type of metal being processed, mechanical and chemical operating conditions, and the thermal cycles to which the lining will be subjected.
However, what truly sets us apart is our ability to understand the production process of each installation: it is not simply a matter of selecting the most suitable product, but of designing and executing an engineering-based project focused on maximizing equipment performance and extending the service life of both the refractory lining and the equipment.

Ability to respond to last-minute repairs
Maintenance shutdowns do not always allow for long-term planning. During this campaign, Insertec France has also responded to last-minute repair needs, with particularly tight execution schedules.
One of these projects had to be completed in just 5 days. This type of work requires precise coordination of equipment, materials and resources, as well as a high degree of adaptability to ensure that the furnace can return to operation within the available maintenance window. The combination of experience in refractory applications, availability of different solutions and on-site execution capabilities enables Insertec to respond to both planned maintenance projects and urgent interventions.

The next shutdown: Christmas
Barely had the summer work been completed when many foundries were already looking ahead to the Christmas shutdown. Advance planning of this work is essential: it makes it possible to define the scope of the interventions more precisely, select the most suitable materials and coordinate resources and teams to make the most of the available shutdown hours.
Following a particularly intensive summer campaign, Insertec France is already preparing for the next maintenance period with new refractory lining repair and servicing projects, maintaining its focus on equipment reliability and reducing customers’ downtime. Shall we start working on your Christmas shutdown?
